Ramadan, do you have to leave so soon?
It’s as if you just came yesterday!
And you are already on the verge of leaving us!
Can’t you stay with us forever?

I know it’s a tall order, but not impossible for the One who is watching
You, me, and all of us
In this whole universe of His!
Coz, He utters ‘Be’ and it is!

Throughout this month, Satan and his allies were locked away by Allah
And how fast will they descend upon human beings
So, please do not leave us so soon!

Such is the effect you have upon Muslims
That they fill the Mosques from morning to night!
So much so that those who are regular in their prayers throughout the year
Miss the first line in the congregational prayer by a whisker many times!

What will you take, O Ramadan, to stay with us forever?
Do you need a nod from the Almighty above
Or do you need a collective undertaking from all the Muslims
In this world and the rest of the universe!

I hope I stay neat and clean even after you leave
And remain steadfast in the path of Allah.
And serve my fellow beings with selflessness.
How I wish I could die with the name of Allah on my lips?
