As Muslims, our goal should always be to please Almighty Allah. Whatever we do, we should strive to please only Him. If pleasing Him is our sole aim, whatever we do, we will meet with success.
"It has been narrated from Abu Sa’id al-Khudri that he said, “I heard the Messenger of Allah (S) say the following to a person whom he was advising: ‘Actively seek that which is in the presence of Allah so that Allah will love you; keep away from that which is in the hands of the people so that the people will have love for you. The one who is an ascetic in the transient world is at ease and his heart and body are at ease, both in the world and the next life. However, the one who seeks that which is in the world (the material pleasures) - his heart and body will be fatigued and put through toil - both in the world and the next life."
There are many ways to achieve Allah's love. Few of them are listed below -- Zikr: Remembrance of Allah - Fikr: Reflection - Compassion for Allah's creation - Regret - Pray and place your trust in Allah (Tawakkul) - Act with justice - Taqwa: Make Allah your shield - Become one with Allah and adopt His attributes - Another means to attain divine love is to study the nature and to reflect upon ways of attaining love and then to act upon them.
- Those who are God-conscious (Al-Muttaqin) - Those who purify themselves (Al-Mutatahhirun) - Those who rely on Him (Al-Mutawakkilin) - Those who repent (Al-Tawwabin) - Those who are Just (Al-Muqsitin) - Those who are consistent - Those who do good (Al-Muhsinin) -Those who are patient (As-Sabirin) - Those who follow the Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) Let us make a sincere attempt to follow this and achieve the love of Allah Subahanahu Ta'ala.
